For families

Praying with your children

Family prayer doesn't need to be long or impressive — just consistent and honest.

Pick one rhythm to start with. Add others as they become natural.

Morning blessing

Before they leave the house, lay a hand on their head and pray a short blessing. 'The Lord bless you and keep you today.'

At the table

Take turns thanking God for one thing about the day. Pray for one person who needs God's help.

Bedtime

Confess one thing, thank God for one thing, ask for one thing. Read or recite a verse. Pray Aaron's blessing.

When they are afraid

Pray Scripture with them — 'When I am afraid, I put my trust in you' (Ps. 56:3). Let them hear you bring their fears to God.

When they sin

Walk them through confession to the Father. Remind them — and yourself — of the cross. Then pray the joy of forgiveness.
