Step 3 of 5 · Who is Jesus?

Step 3 · The Gospel

Who is Jesus?

Jesus is not just a wise teacher. He is not just a good man. The Bible claims something stunning: Jesus is God Himself, who stepped into His own creation to rescue people who could not rescue themselves.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14

He lived the life we couldn't live.

Jesus lived a perfectly obedient life. He never sinned. Not in thought, not in word, not in action. The standard you and I keep failing — He met it, all the way through.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:15

He died the death we deserved.

On the cross, Jesus took the punishment our sin earned. He absorbed the full weight of God's just anger toward sin so that we could be forgiven. This is not God going easy on sin — it's God paying for it Himself.

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21

He rose, proving it all.

Three days later Jesus walked out of His own grave. Hundreds of eyewitnesses saw Him. The resurrection isn't a metaphor — it's a historical claim, and it's the hinge of everything. If Jesus is alive, He really is who He said He is, and death no longer has the final word.

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9

Pause: Jesus did not come to give you tips for a better life. He came to give you a new one.
