Step 5 · The Gospel
Find a church
You were not made to follow Jesus alone. Christianity is not a solo sport — from day one, Jesus built His people into a family He calls the church. We grow when we gather, worship, learn, eat, confess, serve, and suffer together.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.”
What to look for
- The Bible is taught — verse by verse, with care and authority.
- The gospel is central — Jesus crucified and risen, not moralism or self-help.
- People love each other — visibly. Not perfectly, but really.
- They practice baptism and the Lord's Supper — and take church membership seriously.
- You can find a small group — a place to know and be known.

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
One step at a time. Pick a church to visit this week. Tell them you're new to following Jesus and want to learn. The vast majority of pastors will joyfully walk with you from there.
