The Names of God

Three weeks of devotionals exploring the names and titles of God revealed in Scripture — from Elohim to Abba Father.

Each day introduces one name of God, the passage where it appears, and how it shapes the way you pray and live.

Day 1 · sample devotional

Elohim — the Mighty Creator

"Read Genesis 1:1-31 and notice how often 'God said' and 'it was good' appear."
Genesis 1:1

Meditate

The Bible's first sentence introduces Elohim — the strong, sovereign Creator who speaks worlds into being. Before God is anything to you, He is God in Himself. That is the foundation of all worship: He is, and you are His.

Pray

Elohim, Maker of heaven and earth, I worship you. You are not small and not silent. Help me to live today as your creature, in your good world, under your loving rule. Amen.
