Short answer
Jesus of Nazareth is the eternal Son of God who became fully human while remaining fully divine. He is the promised Messiah, the only Savior of sinners, the crucified and risen Lord, and the King who is returning to judge the living and the dead.
What Scripture says
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us."
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth... and in him all things hold together."
"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
"Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow."
Going deeper
Jesus is the central figure of all human history and the central figure of the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture presents Him as the promised Rescuer, the eternal Son who took on human flesh to redeem a fallen world. To know who Jesus is is to know who God is, because Jesus is God revealed.
The New Testament is unambiguous: Jesus is fully God. He shares the divine nature, accepts worship, forgives sins, and claims authority that belongs only to God. He is the Creator (Colossians 1:16), the eternal Word (John 1:1), and the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15).
At the same time, Jesus is fully human. He was born of a virgin, grew in wisdom and stature, experienced hunger, sorrow, and temptation — yet without sin. He died a real death on a Roman cross and rose bodily from the grave. The incarnation — God becoming man — is the cornerstone of Christianity.
Jesus is also the only Savior. He Himself said, 'No one comes to the Father except through me.' He did not present Himself as one teacher among many, but as the unique Son sent from the Father to give His life as a ransom for many. To know Jesus is to know eternal life (John 17:3).
