Stand Firm in God's Strength: A Bible Study on Ephesians 6

A free 45-minute Bible lesson on the Armor of God, with readings, discussion questions and a prayer. Great for groups or on your own.

"Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might."— Ephesians 6:10

Step 1 · 5 min

Start here

Think of a time you felt weak or worn out. Where did you look for strength?

Step 2 · 10 min

Read together

Main passage: Ephesians 6:10-18

  • Ephesians 6:10-18 — Paul lists the armor God gives.
  • Isaiah 59:17 — God himself wears this armor first.
  • 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 — Our fight is not with people.

Step 3 · 10 min

What it means

  1. 1. The strength is God's, not ours

Paul says be strong "in the Lord." We don't try harder — we lean on him.

  2. 2. The real fight is unseen

Our struggle is not against people but against evil. That changes how we treat others.

  3. 3. God gives every piece we need

Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and God's Word — plus prayer — keep us standing.

Step 4 · 10 min

Talk about it

  1. Which piece of armor do you need most this week? Why?
  2. What does it look like to "stand" instead of run?
  3. How does knowing the fight isn't with people change how you treat a hard person?
  4. Why do you think Paul ends with prayer?

Step 5 · 5 min

Live it this week

  • Pick one piece of armor and pray about it each morning.
  • Write Ephesians 6:10 on a card and keep it with you.
  • Text a friend and ask how you can pray for them.

Step 6 · 5 min

Close in prayer

Lord, I am not strong on my own. Help me stand in your strength today. Cover me with your truth and peace, and help me trust you. Amen.
